The 82nd academy awards

The 82nd Academy Awards ceremony will be take place on March 7, 2010 to be presented by Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to honor the best 2009 films. It will be take place at Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. ABC Television Networks in USA will be the one to cover it and the show will be hosted by actors Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin (also hosted the 73rd and 75th ceremonies). Baldwin is the first time to host this kind of show. The show is produced by Bill Mechanic and Adam Shankman and been directed by Hamish Hamilton. Adam Shankman revealed in an interview on NPR’s Fresh Air that he and his co-producer Bill Mechanic had originally choose Sacha Baron Cohen as the host, but the idea is been rejected by Academy because Cohen was too much of a wild card.

 

On the past June, 2009, the Academy president Sid Ganis announced at a conference the the 2010 ceremony will be featuring 10 Best Picture nominees instead of the original five that was discontinued after 1943. Last February 2, 2010 at 5:38 AM the 82nd Academy Awards were announced in the venue- Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, California by Tom Sherak and the actress Anne Hathaway. The top nominated films are the Avatar and The Hurt Locker, with 9 nominations each. The winner will be awarded during the final ceremony on March 7, 2010.
