The real impact of Iphone and android

February 16, 2008

The iPhone and the Google Android platform, which was finally shown-off (sort of) in Barcelona this week, aren’t mobile telephones.

They are Internet clients.

Internet clients use exponentially more data bandwidth than ordinary digital phones, which use thin streams of compressed data. Maybe several exponentials.

Operators are thinking of expanding their networks into homes and offices to handle the extra load.

The Android clients shown in Barcelona aren’t much. What they mainly prove is that the specification can be built and deployed quickly.

While the Apple iPhone roll-out has gone at a predictable pace, with one vendor delivering specified numbers to a handful of networks, the Android roll-out will be far more helter-skelter.

That’s because the Android is designed to work anywhere, first on any GSM network and then, with a little tinkering, anywhere else.

This makes it hard for operators to predict where and how demand will come from.

While Internet routing and fiber trunks have always been scaled well ahead of demand, mobile networks will have to route a ton more data on-and-off the fiber for the new clients. Equipment will have to be bought without an assurance of a quick return.

Yet thanks to the iPhone network operators have no choice. In the U.S. Verizon and Sprint are seeing their best customers jump en masse to AT&T, because of the iPhone. They have to compete.

While the Google Android specification may (or may not) allow effective competition on the handset end, Verizon must guess that it will, anticipate that demand, and start investing now.

Tamz Seo Tip #1 Use templates w/ no left column

February 13, 2008

seo guideFrom Tamz or tamz.highschoolreviewer.com talks about SEO or (serach engine optimizer) SEO anyone? I am new to this SEO craze and like all newbies on this field, I searched the net for anything that I can find on this topic that may help me get my site a boost on it’s PR and finally earn some bucks on Ads.

I’ve read on one of the SEO e-books (namely the one that Mr Macuha sent me.. Tnx po!) that one of the things that blog/site owners need to consider in Optimizing their sites content is their templates / themes.

It is a fact that Google reads your webpage from top left, to bottom right. If you have a left hand column containing navigation links, then google will first read all of the text on your left hand column before the body of your webpage, where lies the contents that you painstakingly optimized for google. You do not want this to happen because you want Google to read your content first.

So drop that template with a left hand column and get a new one where the body of your site is on the left hand side!

Cheers for SEO!

radiation from mobile phone protection from radiation

Mobile phone radiation and health concerns have been raised, especially following the enormous increase in the use of wireless mobile telephony throughout the world (as of August 2005, there were more than 2 billion users worldwide). This is because mobile phones use electromagnetic radiation in the microwave range. These concerns have induced a large body of research (both epidemiological and experimental, in non-human animals as well as in humans). Concerns about effects on health have also been raised regarding other digital wireless systems, such as data communication networks.

The World Health Organization has concluded that serious health effects (e.g. cancer) are very unlikely to be caused by cellular phones or their base stations[1] [2], and expects to make recommendations about mobile phones in 2007–08.

However, some national radiation advisory authorities, including those of Austria [3], France [4], Germany[5] and Sweden[6] recommend to their citizens measures to minimize exposure. Examples of the recommendations are:

  • Use hands-free to decrease the radiation to the head.
  • Keep the mobile phone away from the body.
  • Do not telephone in a car without an external antenna.

Protect yourself from the cell phone radiation emitted from the antenna of your mobile phone with the SAR Shield radiation shield. Electromagnetic radiation EMF has been proven to be harmful. SAR Shield is the only cellular radiation shield to be tested using FCC SAR testing protocols. Safety is accomplished by dissipating deadly cancer causing electromagnetic radiation by up to 89%. Eliminate the dangers today! Available for phones with and without antennas.

Latest mobile phone O2 Cocoon Designer Cellphone

February 12, 2008

O2 Cocoon

O2 Cocoon is the latest on the growing list of designer cellphones. Phones that do not offer much in terms of feature, but sport really nice designs, such as the Nokia 8600 Luna, Nokia 8800, and the Vertu series. This one stands out from the crowd though, with its clean curves and attractive black-and-white color scheme. It’s hard not to like the looks of it!

Features:

  • 2-megapixel camera with flash, digital zoom and auto-focus
  • 2GB on-board memory
  • 3G and videocalling
  • MP3 player for up to 500 songs
  • LED front display
  • Docking station called the Nest
  • External storage via microSD memory cards

O2 Cocoon's cool LED display.

Perhaps the most interesting feature of the phone is the hidden LED display on its outer shell. It displays “HELLO” when it starts up, shows who’s calling/texting, what music’s playing, or even the time. Neat!

half life 2 overview

Half-Life 2 is an immersive first person shooter from the developers at Valve Software, the creators of the original Half-Life. Building off of the riveting storyline and gameplay of the debut title, Half-Life 2 pushes the envelope even further and has once again "raised the bar" of the FPS genre. Using Valve’s own built-from-the-ground-up "Source" engine, Half-Life 2 offers interactive physical environments, intense realism and impressive graphics, all bundled together with a masterfully-crafted storyline.

Released on November 16, 2004 after nearly 5 years of development, Half-Life 2 was recieved grandly, winning over 35 Game of the Year awards for 2005. To date, Half-Life 2 has sold over four million copies, 25% of which have been purchased using Steam, Valve’s digital content delivery system. In addition to the PC version, Half-Life 2 has been ported to Xbox and will be released for both the Xbox 360 and the Playstation 3 in 2007.

Players once again assume the role of scientist Gordon Freeman, but this time Gordon finds himself in a post-apocalyptic environment—apparently a result of the Black Mesa Incident. With Earth’s human population oppressively held in prison-like urban centers, its natural landscape ravaged by the effects of Xen infestations and a whole new enemy that has viciously annexed the human race into its ranks, the future of mankind seems bleak at best. Looks like it’s once again up to Gordon to save the day!

counter strike

Counter-Strike (commonly abbreviated to CS) is a tactical first-person shooter video game which originated from a Half-Life modification by Minh "Gooseman" Le and Jess "Cliffe" Cliffe. The game has been expanded into a series since its original release, which currently includes Counter-Strike: Condition Zero, Counter-Strike: Source, Counter-Strike: Anthology and Counter-Strike on Xbox.

Counter-Strike puts a team of counter-terrorists against a team of terrorists in a series of rounds. Each round is won by either completing the mission objective or eliminating the opposing force. The latest incarnation of the game, Counter-Strike: Source, is based on the Source engine developed for Half-Life 2.

Counter-Strike, the world’s number one online action game series, is a first-person shooter developed by Valve Software, the creators of the renowned Half-Life series. This team-oriented online shooter pits terrorists and counter-terrorists against one another in round-based combat set all over the world. Using the power of the “Source” engine, the original Counter-Strike has been completely remade as Counter-Strike: Source—offering upgraded graphics, levels, and the implementation of a new physics engine. Counter-Strike will never be the same!

First released to the public on June 18th, 1999, Counter-Strike began as a simple fan-produced mod for Half-Life. Thanks to a series of steadily-improving beta releases, the mod started to foster a progressively-enlarging and dedicated following. As the fast-paced, tactical game play was refined and improved, and as new concepts and maps were introduced, Counter-Strike moved from being a mere Half-Life mod to an entirely new game.

With the release of Steam, Valve’s digital content delivery system, Counter-Strike found a new footing within the gaming community. Counter-Strike’s first single-player chapter, Counter-Strike: Condition Zero (Developed by Valve and Turtle Rock Studios), was a great success, bringing many new features and upgraded graphics to the classic game. The release of Counter-Strike: Source only helped boost the series further towards its now legendary status. Counter-Strike is about as close as you’ll ever get to saving the world; or destroying it!
