Clottey holds his ground vs KO

Ghanaian Joshua Clottey is reputed to be so tough he can take the punches of Colombian light heavyweight knockout artist Alejandro Berrio.

But can he absorb the impact of Manny Pacquiao’s power punches without collapsing into a heap?

Clottey’s trainer, Lenny DeJesus, thinks so.

DeJesus’ ward has never been knocked out in his career and also did well against the 6-foot-1 Berrio, who has knocked out 28 of his 29 victims while losing just five for a knockout norm of 82.35 percent, which is higher than Pacquiao’s KO percentage of 69.09.

Pacquiao, however, has sent to dreamland his last four opponents in different weight categories—David Diaz, Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton and Miguel Cotto.

The 64-year-old DeJesus, who also served as Pacquiao’s cutman for six fights from 2003-05, the last against Mexican Erik Morales, gave Clottey a 75 percent chance to upstage the seven-time world champion in as many divisions.

DeJesus was earlier quoted as saying that only Pacquiao could beat Pacquiao but changed tack after watching the hard-working Clottey in training. Pacquiao vs Clottey will be a close fight because clottey has a big chance also to win because of his body structure and strong punches.

In another surprising twist, DeJesus announced that Clottey would be at 155 pounds at fight night against the smaller Pacquiao, who has never gone past 149 lb.

The 82nd academy awards

The 82^nd Academy Awards ceremony will be take place on March 7, 2010 to be presented by Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences to honor the best 2009 films. It will be take place at Kodak Theatre in Hollywood, Los Angeles, California. ABC Television Networks in USA will be the one to cover it and the show will be hosted by actors Alec Baldwin and Steve Martin (also hosted the 73^rd and 75^th ceremonies). Baldwin is the first time to host this kind of show. The show is produced by Bill Mechanic and Adam Shankman and been directed by Hamish Hamilton. Adam Shankman revealed in an interview on NPR’s Fresh Air that he and his co-producer Bill Mechanic had originally choose Sacha Baron Cohen as the host, but the idea is been rejected by Academy because Cohen was too much of a wild card.

On the past June, 2009, the Academy president Sid Ganis announced at a conference the the 2010 ceremony will be featuring 10 Best Picture nominees instead of the original five that was discontinued after 1943. Last February 2, 2010 at 5:38 AM the 82^nd Academy Awards were announced in the venue- Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Beverly Hills, California by Tom Sherak and the actress Anne Hathaway. The top nominated films are the Avatar and The Hurt Locker, with 9 nominations each. The winner will be awarded during the final ceremony on March 7, 2010.

Pinoy cue artists strike in Germany

The Philippine pool team competing in the first-ever World Team Championship served notice of its title aspirations by whipping Great Britain II, 4-0, in Round 1 Sunday.

The Philippines beat Britain in two 8-Ball pair events.

First to showcase their wares was the combo of double world champion Ronnie Alcano and former Asian snooker titlist Marlon Manalo, who earned the victory the hard way over their British rivals, 6-5.

The other Pinoy pair of Lee Van Corteza and Warren Kiamco pulled off a 6-4 triumph over another British duo.

Alcano and veteran campaigner Antonio Lining also made good account of themselves in the individual matches to keep the Filipinos winning.

Alcano, the only Filipino to win the World 8-Ball and World 9-Ball titles, nipped Michael Valentine, 8-6, while Lining whipped Chris Meiling, 8-4. Sikat ang Pinoy now gain another honor to the country.

Because the Pinoys had already secured four matches against the British, the 10-Ball games between Dennis Orcullo and Mick Hill and Corteza versus Craig Osborne, were no longer played

oes tsetnoc is not easy

The contest will end next week December 15, 2009 but my oes tsetnoc blog is still on page 2 very slow. I don’t have chance to reach the target on first page on search engine result page on Google.com but the things i have learned on oes tsetnoc competition will used on future not only for SEO contest but also for my personal.

Pacquiao vs.Cotto official weigh-in

Tune in tomorrow on HBO pay per view to witness the Firepower showdown between 2 true warriors who are not afraid of losing, and aren’t out only to defend their legacies. These fighters come to fight, and it’s something that no sports fan should miss.

Manny stepped on first, and weighed in at 144. Cotto was next, and he came in at the contract limit of 145. The crowd went absolutely crazy for both fighters.
